The Bruins and Blackhawks finished the first period of Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final in a 0-0 tie. The Bruins were not without their opportunities in front of the net, though.
The B’s missed an opportunity when a quick 3-on-1 breakaway ended in an offsides call, and Corey Crawford did his best brick wall impersonation, making 11 saves in the first period. Bruins forward Brad Marchand had an especially good chance on a breakaway, but he couldn’t control the puck in front of the net as it sailed past the goal into the boards.
Marchand was so frustrated with his missed shot that he slammed his stick onto the boards, breaking it in half on his way back to the bench. Check out the heated moment in the GIF below.
