Clay Buchholz took part in his first bullpen session in eight days Wednesday, but it was a brief one. Buchholz cut the session short after just 18 pitches due to discomfort in his right trapezius muscle.
The Red Sox were hoping Buchholz could complete a pain-free bullpen session Wednesday and Friday, then make a minor-league rehab start next week. But after Wednesday’s session, Buchholz will have to wait a little longer to see exactly what is wrong in his shoulder.
Listen to The Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham talk about Buchholz’s setback in the video above.
