Dane Cook Gets Ripped for Pulling Set From Live Stream of One Fund Concert to Benefit Boston Marathon Victims

Dane CookIf the phrase after the Boston Marathon bombings was “you messed with the wrong city,” then the phrase after the poorest of poor Dane Cook choices Thursday night is “you messed with the wrong sportswriter.”

The Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe channeled the ire that many were feeling Thursday evening after Cook did his part to spoil what was supposed to be a great event to honor the city and raise money for the bombing victims. Cook appeared at the One Fund concert with a great collection of artists and stars, but he was set apart in one way: He asked that his comedy set not be included in the live stream that people could watch online. Cook said later that he didn’t want any of his new material to get out.

The knives quickly came out for Cook, a Massachusetts native, for drawing attention to himself — in the most self-promoting of ways — on a night that was supposed to further healing and relief. Howe didn’t miss his chance, sharing his feelings on Twitter and really letting it fly.

Howe, NESN.com’s former Patriots writer, also shared a link from the last time he took a formal look at Cook’s career.

Check out how Howe framed the collective feelings of the Boston faithful in his tweets below.
