Danny Amendola, Tom BradyBOSTON — Danny Amendola hasn’t been working with Tom Brady very long, but he’s already in awe of his new quarterback.

The Patriots had a day off from voluntary OTAs on Wednesday, but Amendola was still thinking about Brady and the connection the two have begun developing over the past few weeks.

“We’re trying to get the most work we can in,” Amendola said during a NFL Play 60 event at the Roger Clap Innovation School in Dorchester. “It’s still early and, you know, just trying to go from there and be the best we can be in the given time that we have.”

Amendola has looked great so far, both running routes and catching passes, as he and Brady appear to already have chemistry out on the practice field. The 27-year-old has been learning a lot from his more veteran counterpart — Brady is 36, too — and already has high hopes for the season ahead.

“He’s a legend,” Amendola said. “He’s a football mind. He’s been around the game for a long time, and it’s fun to learn from him and play with him and pick his brain a little bit. It’s going to be a good year.”

There is still plenty of work to do before Brady becomes as comfortable with Amendola as he was with Wes Welker. But, if Amendola’s attitude is any indicator, it won’t be nearly as long as some may expect.
