Denard Robinson Listed as ‘Offensive Weapon’ on Jaguars’ Roster, Not Quarterback, Wide Receiver, Running Back

Denard RobinsonWhile taking a gander through the Jacksonville Jaguars’ official roster, the letters “OW” stand out. They come after Denard Robinson‘s name and don’t stand for an exclamation used to express pain.

In this case, OW means “offensive weapon,” which is Robinson’s official position on the Jaguars. Robinson played quarterback at the University of Michigan, and it was initially announced that he would be a running back in the NFL. His No. 29 suggests the same.

But it appears Jacksonville will likely use Robinson, not just at running back, but also possibly at wide receiver, quarterback and in a wildcat-type role. He was a fifth-round pick this April, but the way the team has talked about him since the draft would suggest that he was picked much earlier.

The Jaguars are going into the season with Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne, Matt Scott, Mike Kafka and Jordan Rodgers behind center, so they can afford to let Robinson try to work his magic at quarterback every once in a while.
