Ed Reed won his championship with the Baltimore Ravens and then joined the Houston Texans this offseason. However, after taking the offseason to recover from hip surgery, Reed hasn’t forgotten about his time in the AFC North.
On Tuesday, Reed spoke with the media after his first day of minicamp with the Texans. When he told reporters he may miss some time this season, he was asked how he thought the hip injury occurred in the first place.
“If I go back to it, man, the only play I can look at is when I got kicked by a certain quarterback,” Reed said while smiling, according to Comcast SportsNet Houston. “You know it happened, and Brady called me afterwards and apologized, but that’s neither here nor there. What happened happened and we’re moving forward.”
What Reed was referring to was last year’s AFC Championship Game, when he was kicked by the Patriots’ Tom Brady as the quarterback went into a slide. Of course, the Ravens went on to win that contest, and the Super Bowl. Reed wanted to make sure the media knew how well he played hurt.
“Even then I played in the Super Bowl, and you saw what happened there,” Reed said. “And even then I had two MCL sprains, a second-degree one in my left [knee] that happened in the Super Bowl in the first quarter and played through that. So if you got any questions, I think that can answer your questions about my heart and how I play and how I work.”
