Gregory Campbell’s Act of Heroism Paves Way for Funny Twitter Hashtag in His Honor

When Gregory Campbell broke his leg blocking a shot and then heroically stuck out the final minute of a penalty kill during Wednesday night’s Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, it was an inspiration to many, including his Bruins teammates, who went on to win in double overtime in their fallen forward’s honor.

Apparently, that inspiration wasn’t exempt from Twitter hashtags.

Less than 24 hours after Campbell’s act of heroism, the social media site was still buzzing about it, and it was the hashtag appropriately titled “#ImGregoryCampbell” that was at the heart of it all. People were using the hashtag to describe their own personal — and usually ironic — accounts of toughness and heroism. Some have missed the mark in terms of funniness, but others, like one from the Dallas Stars, have been pretty hilarious.
