Jarrod Saltalamacchia Given Night Off After Grind of Two Extra-Inning Contests (Video)

Extra-inning games wear down all ballplayers, but none feel the impact of free baseball quite like catchers.

The Red Sox have gone deep into extras twice this week, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia was behind the plate for all 27 innings. Manager John Farrell gave Salty the night off Friday in Baltimore, and NESN’s Jenny Dell caught up with the catcher to talk about the effect playing five-hour games has on his body.

Check out what he had to say in the video above.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
