draftstreetNESN.com and Draftstreet.com challenged readers to a one-week fantasy baseball challenge, with $300 in prize money available. Thanks to big days from Justin Verlander and Carlos Gonzalez, one NESN.com visitor is going home with the big prize.

A reader with the username “eaglezzz” barely beat out the competition by earning 55 points. The second-place user, “jtc1984” had 49.95 points, while the third-place finisher, “mcalvin40,” had 46.25.

Gonzalez led his team with 14.25 points earned by going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs scored and three RBIs. Verlander earned 7.5 points by throwing seven innings of three-run, six-strikeout ball in a winning effort. The victorious team was rounded out by Troy Tulowitzki, Domonic Brown, Prince Fielder, Jean Segura, Desmond Jennings and Chris Carter.

NESN.com’s team finished in 360th place out of 877 entries, with 28.2 points. Segura had a nice day for Team NESN, going 2-for-5 with a triple, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored. However, poor weather ultimately doomed the cause, as three NESN picks — Mike Trout, Jacoby Ellsbury and Josh Willingham — had their games rained out.
