The Stanley Cup Final is something players won’t ever forget. The same could also be said, however, for the men who oversee those Cup Final games.
The moment is also special for the officials selected to work the games. These referees and linesmen work all season long for the chance to make the Cup Final, which makes them not unlike the players they are policing in that regards.
It’s a special opportunity, and it’s one they don’t take for granted. The NHL decided to pull back the curtain on a couple of those guys during Game 4 of the series in Boston. In a quick video on NHL.com, the league mic’d up referees Dan O’Halloran and Wes McCauley for the game, and cameras followed them back to their dressing room, as well. It’s a fascinating look and listen at what goes on during an NHL hockey game on the biggest stage.
