It is safe to say that Randall Cunningham II got his father’s athleticism.
The younger Cunningham is 6-foot-5, 185 pounds, runs a 4.6-second 40-yard dash, topped all high schoolers with a 7-feet, 3.25-inch high jump in 2013 and is a three-star quarterback recruit despite not starting a game during the 2012 season, according to Syracuse.com. That athleticism is drawing interest from numerous colleges in both track and field and football.
Cunningham could have a shot at competing in the 2016 Olympics and at making it to the NFL as a quarterback. Among the schools going after Cunningham are Arizona State, LSU, Baylor and Syracuse.
In a backup role in 2012 as a junior, Cunningham completed 21 of 32 passes for 298 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. He also ran the ball 42 times for 483 yards and seven touchdowns for Las Vegas Bishop Gorman high school, according to ESPN.com.
He wants to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics, and he’s well on his way. The 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials automatic qualifying standard was 7 feet, 5.76 inches.
