Red Sox Watch in Awe as Jonny Gomes, Boston Walk Off Against Rays (Caption Contest)

It was a long day that included 18 innings of baseball for the Red Sox. However, when Jonny Gomes launched one over the Green Monster to give Boston its second win of the day, no one remembered how tired were.

After the game, the Red Sox posted the below picture to Instagram, and it’s pretty amazing. The image captures the Red Sox bench watching Gomes’ home run clear the fence (or possibly just his helmet up in the air) with the wide-eyed wonder that only playing a kid’s game can bring.

However, taken out of context, the photo also has some comedic value. So NESN wants you to submit your hilarious captions, and we’ll post the best ones on later in the week.

Check out the photo below, and submit your questions by tweeting at @NESN using the hashtag #NESNcaption, or dropping it in the comments below.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
