Police are now looking into Hernandez’s connection to a double homicide that happened in Boston on July 16, 2012, according to FOX 25.

According to Boston Police, officers responded to a shooting at the corner of Shawmut Avenue and Herald Street in the South End around 2 a.m. on July 16 to find two men dead and a third wounded inside a BMW at the scene. Witnesses observed a grey SUV with Rhode Island license plates open fire on the victims before fleeing the scene.

A source told FOX 25 that police were investigating Hernandez’s connection to the killings.

Hernandez was arrested early Wednesday morning and arraigned in Attleboro District Court. He has been charged with murder and five gun-related counts in connection to the death of Odin Lloyd.

The Patriots released the Pro Bowl tight end shortly after his arrest on Wednesday, saying it was “the right thing to do.”
