Report: Brooklyn Nets to Hire Jason Kidd as Head Coach

Jason KiddNewly retired NBA point guard Jason Kidd reportedly already has a new job.

ESPN.com is reporting that the Brooklyn Nets have chosen Kidd to be their head coach, citing a source close to the situation.

The team has informed Pacers associate head coach Brian Shaw of its decision. Shaw had been on the Nets’ radar for quite some time as a potential candidate to fill their head coaching vacancy, but Kidd convinced Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov that he is ready to take the helm for an NBA team despite having no prior coaching experience.

Kidd played 19 seasons in the NBA and retired less than three weeks ago. The point guard had stints with the Mavericks, Suns, Nets and Knicks. In his career, Kidd amassed 10 All-Star selections and 107 triple-doubles.
