Lindsey Vonn wore a custom-made gown and special accessories to the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards. The IOC brought the pee cup.
Vonn had a unique experience at the high-class awards event Monday night, and it wasn’t just because she was the rare athlete to attend. The New York Post reports that Vonn’s evening also included a request for a urine sample as part of random drug screening for the upcoming Winter Olympics.
Apparently the International Olympic Committee can ask elite athletes to submit samples at any time, and the committee came calling Monday while Vonn was wearing a Cynthia Rowley custom-made dress to the Lincoln Center event in New York City.
“Several drug tests were waiting outside Lincoln Center and told Vonn they needed access to the event to perform a drug test immediately,” the Post reports. “Rowley met the IOC group outside and ushered them into the hall.
“A source told us: ‘Lindsey met the IOC at the bathroom. Cynthia stood guard outside, and no one was allowed to enter the bathroom. They were in there for about five minutes.'”
Vonn did not have a comment about the situation after the event, talking instead about the dress and her rehab from a bad knee injury. She says current beau Tiger Woods is helping her, since he’s had knee problems as well.
Does the PGA test randomly, too? Because this other glitzy event may not have been the best place to get a sample from Woods.
