While the football world continues to try and figure out why the Patriots signed Tim Tebow, his former head coach, Rex Ryan, already has his wishes on how the former Jet will be used in the Pats offense.

“If they want to replace [Tom] Brady with him, that’s fine,” he told the media on Tuesday morning — the same day Tebow arrived to his new office in Foxboro.

Tebow played under Ryan for just one disappointing season in New York. Despite the quarterback/fullback/tight end/special teamer barely playing for him, Ryan thinks very highly of the legendary Florida Gators quarterback, according to NFL.com.

“It’s not a surprise to me that Tim would be picked up,” Ryan said. “Obviously, as I said before, you know, tremendous young man. Very competitive. So, I’m happy for him and look forward to competing against him.”
