Shane VictorinoShane Victorino is healthy and ready to return.

The Red Sox activated Victorino from the 15-day disabled list before the second game of Saturday’s day-night doubleheader. In a corresponding roster move, Jackie Bradley Jr. was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Victorino returns after missing 17 games with a hamstring injury. He’s been banged up a bit this season, as he’s also battled a back issue, but he’s been very solid when healthy. Victorino is hitting .283 with two home runs and 10 RBIs, and his defense has been excellent. He leads the Red Sox with four outfield assists.

Bradley heads back to the minors, but he’ll do so more eloquently this time around. Bradley batted .097 in his first taste of big league action earlier this season. He looked much improved offensively during his most recent call-up, though.

Victorino, whose primary position this season has been right field, will play center field and bat leadoff on Saturday while Jacoby Ellsbury gets the night off.
