Daniel Sturridge, Steven Gerrard and Jordan HendersonSteven Gerrard admits he’s excited by Liverpool’s summer transfer activity so far and is itching to line up alongside his new teammates as soon as possible.

The Reds have announced four signings already this summer, with Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas, Simon Mignolet and Kolo Toure agreeing to switches to Anfield.

Gerrard — who confirmed on Wednesday he expects to be fully fit and firing in time for the new season — has been pleased with the speed of Liverpool’s transfer business to date and believes supporters should be excited for 2013-14.

“Especially with the news of us making a few signings, I’m really looking forward to getting started,” Gerrard told LFC TV at his foundation’s charity golf day in Portugal.

“It’s always important to get faces in as soon as possible; they can get a full preseason under their belt, get to know the lads and how the manager wants to play.

“There are some exciting names in there so everyone is excited.”

Gerrard admits he hasn’t seen much of Spanish pair Alberto and Aspas in action, but has complete faith in Brendan Rodgerstransfer market judgement.

“I know very little about them, but I have got a lot belief and confidence in Brendan and the scouting department that they are going to make the right decisions and I have seen bits and bobs of new signings we have made,” he added.

“I am really looking forward to getting back to work next week and seeing what the new players have got to offer and see if they can help strengthen our squad to put in a better fight for a top-four finish.”

The skipper was speaking at the Steven Gerrard Foundation Trophy golf tournament in Portugal. To find out more about the Steven Gerrard Foundation or to make a donation, visit the charity’s official website.
