Victor Oladipo Forced by NBA to Take Off Google Glass Before Being Selected by Magic in Draft (Video)

Google Glass made a fan out of Victor Oladipo, but the No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft didn’t love the product so much that he wanted to make enemies with his new employers.

Oladipo wore Google Glass for three days before the draft for The Verge. He met his fellow draft picks on the bus on the way to the Barclays Center and did some green room interviews with the innovative product. However, when it came time for Oladipo to walk across the stage Thursday and shake David Stern‘s hand after being selected by the Orlando Magic, the guard was no longer wearing the glasses with a built-in camera.

Oladipo was asked by the NBA to remove the glasses before the draft began. Unfortunately, that means we don’t have a first-person perspective of what it’s like to be taken No. 2 overall in the draft.

The NBA told the former Indiana Hoosier that “the people on the other side” didn’t want the newest Magic star to wear the glasses. It’s unclear why the NBA made the decision.

Check out Oladipo’s point-of-view account of the NBA draft — right up until he gets picked, of course — in the video below.
