The Celtics’ original offseason blockbuster ultimately fell through; Kevin Garnett will not be heading to the Los Angeles Clippers.
The trade talks involving Garnett have not disappeared, though, and neither have those regarding the longest-tenured Celtic, Paul Pierce.
The rumor currently circulating revolves around a deal that would send Garnett, Pierce and Jason Terry to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, Tornike Shengelia and three future first-round picks.
Calling that a franchise-changing trade would be putting it lightly.
But how would Celtics fans feel about this move? The team has already shipped head coach Doc Rivers to L.A., is getting rid of Boston’s two most recognizable — albeit aging — stars the next step? And how would Humphries and Rajon Rondo gel as teammates after famously coming to blows last season?
