Many fans didn’t seem to notice that Alex Rodriguez had joined Twitter, but Yankees general manager Brian Cashman sure did.
Cashman lashed out at the third baseman over his decision to use Twitter to update the public on his injury rehab status, according to ESPN New York.
“You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will],” Cashman said. “Alex should just shut the f— up. That’s it. I’m going to call Alex now.”
Rodriguez used his Twitter account on Tuesday to let his 29,000 followers that he had been cleared to play.

But the Yankees don’t seem to be on the same page as Dr. Bryan Kelly. Cashman reiterated to ESPN New York that A-Rod hadn’t yet been cleared to come back to the game.
“He has not been cleared by our doctors to play in rehab games yet,” he said. “He’s getting closer. There’s no doubt about it. But we don’t have a date for him to start playing games yet. It could be July 1. It could also be July 5, or maybe June 25.”
Rodriguez hasn’t played yet in the 2013 season because of a torn labrum.
