Andrew Bailey Weighing Options Before Deciding Course of Action With Shoulder (Video)

The Red Sox bullpen was dealt another blow Friday afternoon, when it was announced that Andrew Bailey is headed back to the disabled list with his chances of pitching again this season looking slimmer by the day.

Manager John Farrell told Tom Caron during Friday Night Fenway that Bailey began feeling pain during an outing in Oakland, noticing a “stretching sensation” in his throwing shoulder. The injury may require surgery, which would sideline Bailey for the remainder of the season, but Farrell said that the right-hander is not yet ready to make that decision.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
