The Baylor Bears took on the UCLA Bruins in the 2012 Holiday Bowl, and the Bears trampled all over the Bruins, winning the game 49-26.
But the Bears’ bowl championship rings tell a different story. If you didn’t watch the December game, you might think that Baylor won the game 49-19 based on the inscription on the rings. The entire team’s rings have an incorrect score on them — on purpose.
In the final minute of the December 27 game, UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley went airborne to Logan Sweet for a 34-yard touchdown pass as time ran out. But, according to the video evidence, Sweet didn’t actually reach the end zone and was tackled on the one-yard line. The officiating crew awarded the Bruins a touchdown anyway.
Baylor head coach Art Briles was none to pleased with the call, and the Bears took a stand with their championship hardware. Check out the ring in the photo below. [tweet https://twitter.com/BUFootball/statuses/356073072694030336 align=’center’]
