Derek Jeter Hits Home Run on First Pitch He Sees After Returning From Disabled List (Video)

Derek Jeter returned to the Yankees lineup with a bang Sunday afternoon.

After receiving a standing ovation from the faithful at Yankee Stadium, the captain took the first pitch he saw and hit it over the right field fence for an opposite-field home run.

Jeter had missed most of the season while rehabbing a broken ankle he suffered during the 2012 campaign. He returned for one game on July 11, but he aggravated his hamstring and was placed on the disabled list again.

But it looks like the captain is back after showing that sort of power to the opposite field. His home run couldn’t have come at a better time for the Yankees, as they have been struggling to find power from the right side of the box. The last Yankees right-hander to go yard was Jason Nix on June 25.

Check out the video of Jeter’s homer below.
