Deval Patrick Follows Through on Stanley Cup Bet, Volunteers at Greater Chicago Food Depository (Photos)

The saying may not always apply to politicians, but Tuesday, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick was a man of his word.

Patrick followed through on a friendly bet with Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn surrounding this year’s Stanley Cup Final. According to the bet, made before Game 1 of the Final, the losing team’s governor would agree to spend a day volunteering at a food bank in the winning team’s city. As we all know, the Boston Bruins lost to the Chicago Blackhawks in a thrilling six-game series.

The two politicians came together Tuesday to put in work at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Patrick, who is originally from Chicago, stopped just short of wearing a Blackhawks jersey to complete the volunteering, saying that he would “get in too much trouble back in Boston,” according to WBBM reporter Lisa Fielding.

Check out photos below of Patrick working at the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
