Doc RiversDoc Rivers didn’t bolt Boston to make the Clippers just another team in the Western Conference that’s fun to watch. Rivers was thinking big from the get-go, as he made clear Wednesday.

“I know what I think we can be, and I think that we have a realistic chance of being the winner at the end of the year,” Rivers told USA Today.

Rivers spoke after a news conference to introduce the Clippers’ free agent signees. New additions Jared Dudley, J.J. Redick and Darren Collison joined Chris Paul, Ryan Hollins and Matt Barnes, who were retained from last season’s roster, with Rivers merely watching. The Clippers did have to part with Eric Bledsoe as part of the deal to acquire Redick, but Rivers and the rest of the Clippers sounded confident that the team should remain a favorite in the West.

At least, Rivers thinks so, anyway.
