Earlier this summer, the NFL announced new restrictions on what fans can bring into stadiums for games. The new rules were so restrictive that the Indianapolis Colts have decided to help some of their fans out.
Starting during the NFL’s preseason, fans will only be allowed to bring in bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12.” Restricted items include: any purse larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, seat cushions and camera bags.
The Colts announced that they will provide season ticket holders with compliant bags in early August, just in time for the preseason, according to the Indy Star.
“We are proud that the Indianapolis Colts fan game day experience has been rated #1 for a second consecutive year by Stadium Journey Magazine,” Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay said. “The foundation of that experience begins with public safety. Therefore, we continue our outstanding partnership with the other 31 NFL teams, NFL security, Lucas Oil Stadium and local law enforcement by adding this league-wide policy.”
The Kansas City Chiefs announced in June that they will also be giving compliant bags to season ticket holders.
In addition to placing the new restrictions, the league is directing fans to purchase one of their licensed bags that will comply with the rules on NFLshop.com.
