John LackeyThere have been plenty of great story lines this season for the Boston Red Sox, but John Lackey‘s return to dominance after missing the entire 2012 season may be chief among them.

Lackey now has a 2.78 ERA with 93 strikeouts in 100 1/3 innings. The season got off to a rough start, too, when he left his first start of the season after just 4 1/3 innings after injuring his biceps. The injury turned out to be nothing serious and he’s been stellar ever since.

This past week was no different, as the big right-hander struck out 14 batters in 14 innings, allowing just four earned runs, walking five and allowing eight hits. He went 1-1 this week after Red Sox bats came up empty against the Angels on Sunday.

Lackey will pitch next after the All-Star break.
