Lance BerkmanThe Texas Rangers took Saturday night to pay tribute to victims of the West, Texas, explosion and did so in generous fashion. Between contributions from Major League Baseball, the Rangers’ foundation and the Players Association, $140,000 in donations was given to city officials.

Lance Berkman simply put the cherry on top of the giving — if the cherry is a big, red truck. The first baseman donated a firetruck to the West fire department as part of the pregame ceremonies.

The Rangers presented the donations before Saturday’s game against the Houston Astros. The team also sported patches that read, “Support West” for the game.
