Lance Berkman hasn’t been in the Rangers’ lineup since June 26, and there’s good reason for that. He fell out of plane.

Well, he actually fell down a set of stairs getting off a plane, but that sounds far less impressive. The injury occurred Thursday night when he slipped walking off the team’s charter plane after it had arrived in Texas from New York.

Berkman has a history of knee injuries, having had four surgeries on his right knee throughout his career. As of Monday afternoon, Berkman had not swung a bat since the injury, according to ESPN.com.

When asked if the fall was a freak occurrence, Berkman had a classic response.
