There are many reasons Manny Machado deserved to be on this year’s All-Star roster, and his defensive performance Sunday just solidified his position.
The 21-year-old third baseman made one of the most impressive plays of the year against the Yankees when he sauntered deep into foul territory to stop a groundball off the bat of Luis Cruz. Machado then proceeded to throw a rocket across the diamond to first base off of his back foot to get the out.
