Well, this isn’t a surprise, but it’s still amusing.
Mike Shanahan took some questions Monday from a reporter wondering how up with technology the Redskins coach is these days. Shanahan’s peers across sports, from Bill Belichick to Bud Selig, are known to eschew technology, so it’s not strange that Shanahan isn’t into email, Facebook, Twitter and the like.
What was fun, though, was how he explained he’s not into it.
“First of all, I’ve never been on Twitter,” he said when asked if he’d be joining, according to the Washington Post’s DC Sports Bog. “I don’t even have email. I just learned to text about two years ago, so that’s where I’m at.
“No, seriously, I don’t have an email. I do text, and I’m not very good at that. I’m not getting into the Twitter.”
Shanahan also emphasized he has never read a tweet, or, in his words, “a Twitter account.”
