It appears that the Bruins will be well-represented when Team Canada convenes for its orientation camp in August ahead of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Hockey Canada announced its management group, coaching staff and orientation camp roster Monday, and five members of the Bruins organization are set to be involved. General manager Peter Chiarelli will be part of the management team. Also, head coach Claude Julien will be part of the coaching staff.
There were three B’s on the 47-player orientation camp roster as well. The orientation camp will take place Aug. 25-28 in Calgary, and it will allow the Hockey Canada program the chance to evaluate players in advance of the Sochi Olympics.
Patrice Bergeron, Milan Lucic and Brad Marchand were the three Bruins given the chance to represent their country at the camp. Bergeron skated for Team Canada at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where the Canadians won the gold medal. He has now won an Olympic gold medal, a world championship and a Stanley Cup, making him one of three Canadian players invited to camp who have done so along with Eric Staal and Jonathan Toews.
