Patrice Bergeron’s Extension Assures Center Will Be Face of Bruins Franchise for Years to Come (Video)

Very little is certain about the Bruins during this offseason of rapid roster movement, but after Friday, one fact became abundantly clear: Patrice Bergeron will not be wearing any jersey not adorned with the spoked-B for a very, very long time.

Bergeron signed an eight-year, $52 million contract extension, keeping the center in Boston until at least 2022. The deal was met with almost universal praise throughout the organization, with everyone from assistant general manager Don Sweeney to young players at the team’s development camp stressing Bergeron’s importance to the team on and off the ice.
