Paul PierceGoing to the Brooklyn Nets was sure to change things for Paul Pierce. After 15 years with one NBA franchise, Pierce is moving to a new home in a new city with a new set of teammates.

Along with his employer and location, Pierce expects his role to change with the Brooklyn Nets, too. The 10-time All-Star described himself as a “glorified role player” with the star-studded Nets after his emotional introductory news conference Thursday in Brooklyn. That is quite the adjustment for a player who has averaged more than 20 points per game eight times in his career.

Pierce seems to be embracing his new role, even while sounding unsure of plying his trade for someone other than the Celtics for the first time in his career. The Nets should consider themselves lucky to have one of the best role players in the business.
