NFL training camps get underway this week across the league, and that means high hopes for just about every franchise not named the Jacksonville Jaguars. It’s a fresh start and a chance to do big things, and perhaps no one has bigger plans than Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon.
The veteran wideout is expecting big things from the Washington offense. Like, huge things.
“We have the potential to be the best offense ever, really,” Garcon said, according to USAToday.com. “We can be the top offense in the league. We have a lot of great players at every position. We have a great offensive line, great tight ends, great receivers, running backs and quarterback.”
Garcon was then asked if he meant the best offense in Redskins history.
“We have the potential to be the best ever,” he stated.
That’s quite the claim, obviously. The Redskins do have some incredible offensive weapons, which starts at the quarterback position. Robert Griffin III was incredible last season, but he was slowed by injuries and is currently recovering from knee surgery. We’re assuming Garcon’s claim only stands if Griffin is under center, unless Garcon feels just as confident with Kirk Cousins.
Garcon is healthy this season, as is tight end Fred Davis, while Alfred Morris had a breakout season last year at running back. However, it probably goes without saying that “best offense ever” is probably just a bit much.
