Alex RodriguezWell, at least he’s not mailing it in with the big league club.

A scout who traveled over to Reading, Pa., on Monday night to see how Alex Rodriguez‘s rehab is going was none too impressed, Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports. While Rodriguez’s night, in which he went 2-for-4 and hit a home run for Double-A Trenton, had some people thinking things were finally clicking for No. 13, the scout said Rodriguez did not look good at all.

“Slow bat, slow feet defensively, not much arm strength,” the scout said, according to Knobler. “Overall, didn’t show much to get excited about. Did not look [major league] ready to me.”

The scout also admitted, though, that Rodriguez could have been just cruising because the minor leagues haven’t exactly been challenging for the slugger. The homer that Rodriguez hit was a bomb.

“I’ll give him that much,” the scout said.

Rodriguez has another week of rehab games scheduled before he takes his game — whatever it consists of — to the Yankees.
