Much to the dismay of phones and AL East foes, David Ortiz won’t be disciplined for smashing a phone to bits over the weekend.

Two days after the Red Sox designated hitter obliterated a dugout phone in Baltimore, a league source told The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo that Major League Baseball will not suspend the big fella despite his tantrum.

Papi went nuts in the Sox dugout after what appeared to be a bad call made by home plate Tim Timmons. Ortiz was ejected after smashing the phone to pieces with his bat.

According to Cafardo, Sox manager John Farrell said he didn’t expect Ortiz to be suspended and penciled him into Monday’s lineup, a day after the cleanup hitter went 4-for-4 with a home run.
