1374261771_ncaafootball14The days of Electronic Arts making a college football video game aren’t over just yet.

Two days after the NCAA announced that it would not renew its licensing contract with EA Sports, it appears the College Licensing Company (CLC) has reached a three-year deal with EA that will allow the company to continue making a college football video game, according to Joystiq.

The CLC is responsible for handling the trademark licensing of all universities, which allows EA to use the names of schools in its games. The new deal is reportedly for a non-exclusive college football video game and will take effect on July 1, 2014, the day after EA’s deal with the NCAA expires.

Many have speculated that the NCAA chose not to renew its contract with EA largely because it is currently involved in a federal lawsuit with former student-athletes. The suit claims the NCAA profited over their likenesses seen in the video games. NCAA Football 14, which was released last week, will be the final college football video game to include the NCAA name and logo.
