Gareth Bale and Jermaine DefoeGareth Bale is ready to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid, and his dream move could soon come to fruition.

Bale told Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas that he wants to join Real Madrid this summer after the Spanish soccer giant offered Tottenham over £85 million ($130 million) for the Welsh star.

Tottenham has made no official comment on the offer, but the Premier League club is ready to negotiate with Real Madrid, according to the Guardian.

“Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid and they will tell the Spanish club that the prospect of a deal would increase if the striker Alvaro Morata were included as a makeweight,” the report says.

“Real, who have waged an increasingly aggressive campaign to sign Bale during this transfer window, may consider Tottenham’s willingness to negotiate, at last, as a positive sign.”

Bale has not submitted a formal transfer request, as it would cost him bonus money and potentially create bad blood between Tottenham and him. There is also little chance that he will go on strike in order to force a move, according to the Telegraph.

Bale swept England’s major Player of the Year awards in 2012-13, attracting the interest of Europe’s richest clubs. While Ligue 1 (French first division) champion PSG and Premier League title holder Manchester United are considering making transfer offers, Real Madrid has already stepped forward and made a formal bid.

The reported £85 million would break Cristiano Ronaldo‘s world record for most expensive transfer, but it could take more than £100 million ($152 million) to convince Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to part ways with the club’s best player.

Few expect Real Madrid to have problems meeting Bale’s price, so it looks like a matter of when, as opposed to if, Bale leaves Tottenham for the Spanish capital.
