Matt Thornton isn’t the only White Sox reliever generating interest in Boston.

According to The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo, the Red Sox are interested in White Sox relievers Matt Lindstrom and Addison Reed, in addition to Thornton. Cafardo reports that the Red Sox are “looking everywhere for relief.”

It’s no secret that the Red Sox could use bullpen help, especially with Andrew Miller being placed on the 60-day disabled list and Alex Wilson going on the 15-day DL. General manager Ben Cherington said that finding options internally is “always the better way to go” when it’s possible, but Boston’s internal options are limited at this point.

FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported over the weekend that Thornton is on the Red Sox’ list of possible bullpen targets, and perhaps he’s higher up than the other two White Sox relievers because he’s a lefty, which is something that Boston could use in the wake of Miller’s foot injury. Thornton, 36, is 0-3 with a 4.00 ERA in 27 innings over 39 appearances this season, but he has been very effective throughout his career. The southpaw has a 3.54 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 585 career games, and he was named an All-Star in 2010.

Lindstrom, who was once a closer for the Marlins and Astros, is 2-3 with a 3.06 ERA in 35 1/3 innings over 42 appearances this season. The 33-year-old owns a 3.59 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 400 career appearances.

Reed, who is the youngest of the bunch at age 24, has just 105 career appearances to his credit. He is 4-1 with a 3.92 ERA in 39 innings over 37 appearances in 2013. In his career, Reed is 7-3 with a 4.35 ERA and 1.26 WHIP.

Stay tuned, as there will surely be plenty of other names popping up before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. It’s clear that the White Sox will likely receive a few phone calls, though.
