1373058767_admin-ajaxThe Golden State Warriors were busy this week trying to win the Dwight Howard sweepstakes, but Howard wasn’t the only marquee free agent they were convincing to come to the Bay Area.

The Warriors have signed Andre Iguodala to a four-year, $48 million contract, according to Yahoo! Sports.

In order to clear cap space for Iguodala and a continued run at Howard, the Warriors have agreed to send the expiring contracts of Richard Jefferson, Andris Biedrins and Brandon Rush to the Utah Jazz.  Jefferson, Biedrins and Rush are in line to make $24 million combined in the 2013-14 season.

Iguodala averaged 13 points, 5.4 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game for a Denver Nuggets team that was eliminated by the Warriors in the first round of the 2013 playoffs. The 29-year-old was one of the most sought-after free agents this offseason, drawing interest from the Kings, Pistons and Nuggets.

The signing of the former University of Arizona standout doesn’t necessarily eliminate the Warriors from winning the D12 sweepstakes, but they will have to make many moves to clear up cap space if Howard chooses the Bay as his new home.
