Like the Red Sox soon will, the Baltimore Orioles are currently on a West Coast, National League road trip. Playing in San Francisco on Sunday afternoon, Adam Jones says he was the victim of a racist display by a fan during the O’s 10-2 win.

After the win, the Baltimore center fielder took to Twitter to let his followers know that a fan in the outfield stands of AT&T Park threw a banana his direction during the ninth inning of the game. Throwing a banana at African American athletes has a long history as a form of racial abuse, mostly in European soccer.

Giants senior director of media relations Jim Moorehead said that the team will review security footage from the game, according to The Baltimore Sun. Aside from that, all we have is Jones’ account of what happened.

Check out Jones’ tweets below.
