Adrian Beltre doesn’t take himself too seriously (at least as long as you don’t touch his head) no matter where he is, and that includes on the ballfield. He showed that again Sunday afternoon in Houston.

The Texas Rangers third baseman was in the middle of another light-hearted moment Sunday, this one stemming from a poor baserunning decision. After Alex Rios hit a ball to third base, Beltre — who was on second to begin the play — took off for third. Houston’s Matt Dominguez fielded the ball and saw Beltre hung up in no-man’s land. Dominguez fired to second and the pickle was on. Jose Altuve chased Beltre down and as he flipped the ball to third, Beltre decided he had enough. The third baseman peeled off of the basepath and continued all the way into left field. He was, of course, called out for leaving the basepath.
