Tom Brady and the Patriots laid a beatdown on the Eagles during the team’s joint practices this week, and the Eagles didn’t take too kindly to it.
After two straight days of Brady feasting on the Eagles’ secondary, cornerback Brandon Boykin called the Patriots out for bullying the apparently helpless Eagles.
“I can speak for the whole team. I felt like [on Tuesday], honestly they came out with this attitude to try to bully us,” Boykin said, per Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia. “And even though it’s practice, it’s always still a game tempo. I think as a team — and obviously I can speak for myself — I wanted to try to set the tone on myself as an aggressive person and just make plays.”
Brady torched the Eagles’ secondary on Tuesday with an almost perfect day, completing 44 of his 48 passes in one-on-one, seven-on-seven and 11-on-11 drills, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald. He made Danny Amendola look like a first-ballot Hall of Famer and rookies Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins resemble perennial Pro Bowlers. Brady came back to earth — somewhat — on Wednesday, completing just 37 of 50 passes on the day, according to Howe, and continuing to embarrass the Eagles’ secondary.
With those sorts of numbers, it’s no wonder Boykin and his teammates felt like they were getting bullied. They were.
