Brandon Phillips Goes Off on Reporter Because of Tweet, Calls Him ‘Fat [Expletive]’ (Video)

Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips is one of the most engaged Twitter users among all professional athletes. He apparently has rabbit ears on the old tweet machine, too.

Phillips was none too pleased with a rather tame — yet critical — tweet from Cincinnati Enquirer beat reporter C. Trent Rosecrans. The reporter brought up Phillips’ on-base percentage in a tweet Wednesday, questioning why someone with Phillips’ OBP would be batting second in a lineup.

Apparently, Phillips caught wind of the tweet at some point, despite the fact that the tweets were sent just after 4 p.m. ET, just a few hours before the Reds took on the Cardinals in St. Louis.

After the game, a game the Reds won 10-0, Phillips sought out Rosecrans, but he did so in an odd way. The second baseman barged in on manager Dusty Baker‘s postgame meeting with the media, and he quickly found Rosecrans. Phillips lashed out at the reporter, labeling Rosecrans a “fat mother[expletive],” while also informing Rosecrans that he found him on Twitter.

“I found out your Twitter name now mother[expletive]. It’s a wrap,” Phillips said, once again going back to his social media well.

Rosecrans’ reaction to that is priceless, as is Baker’s. See it all in the video below.
