Brett Lawrie Shows Off Athleticism in Matrix-Style Move During Eighth Inning Against Royals (Video)

Brett Lawrie turned a routine play into a spectacular one Friday night.

The Blue Jays third baseman was charging Billy Butler‘s chopper in the bottom of the eighth when he misjudged one of the hops. As he was in mid-air thinking the ball was going to bounce higher than it did, he had a split second to adjust, and he did so beautifully. Lawrie was somehow able to stay in the air, barehand the ball and get off a decent throw to first in time for the out.
