Bryce Harper Gets Hit by Pitch, Sparks Nationals-Braves Beef on Twitter

Not only was there a baseball game played Tuesday night between the Nationals and Braves, but there was also a good old-fashioned Twitter fight between the two teams.

It all started in the third inning, when Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper hit a solo home run off of Braves pitcher Julio Teheran to give his team a 1-0 lead. Naturally, Teheran then plunked Harper on the first pitch of his next at-bat. That set off Harper, who had some choice obscenities for Teheran as he walked to first base, and both benches cleared.

But while the two teams may have been finished jawing at each other on the field, it was just starting off of it — thanks, of course, to Twitter. The Braves’ Twitter account responded to Harper’s outburst, tweeting “Clown move bro,” an obvious dig at his answer to a question last season, when the then-19-year-old famously said, “That’s a clown question, bro,” to a reporter who asked him if he was going to drink a celebratory beer while in Canada.

And as you can imagine, the Nationals’ official Twitter account had something to say to that. Check out the exchange in the tweets below.
