Madden is in its 25th year, and it’s better than ever. But the game hasn’t always had a solution to the problem of what a player is to do if he or she grabs the controls and wants to see someone other than the current roster of NFL players when it’s time to win a game.
Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson solved that problem — at least for themselves. In a new ad for Madden 25, Kaepernick and Wilson are shown at various stages of life, starting with a head-to-head gaming experience at summer camp that kicks off a lifelong pursuit of not just playing Madden but of playing Madden with themselves as their avatars.
That’s right — Kaepernick and Wilson didn’t really care for all the fame, fortune and success associated with being a starting quarterback in the NFL. They just wanted to have a suitable player for themselves when they competed in Madden, and they preferred that player be themselves. So, they became NFL quarterbacks to solve that problem.
That’s how the story goes in the newest ad for Madden, and it’s a pretty intriguing tale, complete with some crazy training regimens for the young Kaepernick and Wilson. Check it out in the video below.
