Perhaps beard-searching is a sign of affection for Big Papi.
David Ortiz was one of several Red Sox players congratulating Mike Napoli on Wednesday night after the first baseman broke out of a slump with a monstrous home run, but he did it in an unconventional way. When Napoli arrived back in the dugout, Ortiz gave him the good old head rub — and then searched Napoli’s beard.
Napoli and a few of his Boston teammates all have pretty awesome sets of whiskers, but Napoli was the only one with a bomb — and a personal grooming session — on Wednesday night.
